How it Works

This year around the DAWN in education Spelling Bee wants to add to the experience of holding the Spelling Bee Competition and has organized a Phonetic Workshop for the teachers nominated by schools that have been a part of the 5th DAWN Spelling Bee Competition 2008-09. The workshop will be conducted by Muhammad Ali Khan, Sr. Instructor & Coordinator Professional Link Committee at the Centre of English Language, Agha Khan University Karachi.

Held in collaboration with the Oxford University Press the aim of this workshop is to assist teachers in acquiring a thorough knowledge of the essentials of phonetics, which will be extremely helpful to him/her in his/her classroom. The activity will also give an insight on the various techniques by which the teacher would be able to give theoretical explanation behind pronouncing a certain word in a manner that would appeal to the practical instinct of the pupils.
